Finding a good real estate agent can be an uphill task. However, there are few distinct two-word criteria that you, as a buyer or seller of property, should keep in mind when selecting real estate agents.

  1. Active Listeners

Many real estate agents listen but only as much. They listen selectively to put it straight. Good real estate agents on the other hand listen actively. Also they only talk when it’s relevant and don’t just talk aimlessly. They let the seller or buyer do most of the talking.

Did we mention they actively listen? We did! They make note of your concerns and special needs while searching for the most suitable property or buyer for you or your house, respectively. The way it works is simple, they ask you questions and you answer (with the occasional suggestion thrown into the mix from their side).

  1. Efficient Communicators

The struggles of selling or buying a house can be made tenfold if your real estate agent cannot communicate with you efficiently. The real estate agent should be able to assess your financial condition fast so they can match you with the right property or buyer as quickly as possible.

They also know how time sensitive the market is and keep that in mind when searching for a property or buyer so that you own or sell the house of your dreams on your own terms (time-wise).

  1. Client Oriented

They put the client’s interests over their own and make sure that the client gets a good deal. They do care about their commission (otherwise they wouldn’t be real estate agents now, would they?) but that’s second priority.

They provide the necessary support to their clients by communicating with them more often (proactive rather than reactive approach). They’ll call you up instead of the other way round when they see a deal you might be interested in, based on your needs.

  1. Highly Adaptable

Different buyers and sellers have different communication needs and good real estate agents are aware of that. They are flexible when it comes to fulfilling the diverse communication needs if their clients. If the client needs to be reached by phone twice a week, they’ll do that, if they prefer daily email, they’ll do that, too. In short, they’re highly adaptable.
